Manufacturing Technical Supervisor-1st Shift

Direct the safe and efficient operation of assigned shift.  Uphold HSE standards and ensure compliance with HSE and plant procedures.  Monitor and drive plant performance indicators and align priorities with production demand.  Assist manager to improve the operating skills, technical knowledge and working environment of the shift.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage 1st shift employees and work with 2nd shift leads and supervisor to achieve company goals.
  2. Serve as technical support to all subordinate plant staff.
  3. Act as Incident Commander.
  4. Assure products are manufactured in conformance to highest plant quality standards.
  5. Manage and schedule manufacturing resources for high efficiency.
    1. Work with Production Control
      1. Schedule jobs
    2. Work with Engineering
    3. Work with Finance/HR
      1. Review time cards
      2. Write up corrective action plans
      3. Write up semi-annual appraisals
      4. Track Absenteeism
    4. Work with Quality
      1. Provide assistance in preparations for Audits
  6. Uphold and advance HSE policies and standards.
  7. Maintain and improve operating performance of the operations department.
  8. Coordinate the activities of the production operators and the day to day activities to ensure compliance in areas of safety, housekeeping and training.
  9. Ensure adequate training of workforce by facilitating on/off the job training.
  10. Report all safety incidents and near misses and participate in investigations.
  11. Participate in regular training to improve skills.
    1. Includes specialized training in CT statutory Sexual Harassment Prevention and Supervisory refresher courses

Abilities:

  1. Keen organization and leadership skills with the ability to multi-task and react to changing priorities
  2. Read and understand blueprints, including working knowledge of GD&T.
  3. Read and use measuring equipment and verify product quality including micrometers, calipers, and compound sine plates.
  4. Setup tooling, find home position, run parts on machines, and troubleshoot alongside machinists and other plant staff. Able to facilitate efficient cooperation between departments.
  5. Verify that machine is producing parts per engineering requirements.
  6. Check a first article part.
  7. Ability to assess, prioritize and resolve plant issues.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Degree in Engineering or relating field or equivalent on the job experience.
  2. Five (10) plus years manufacturing experience (operating CNC equipment)
  3. Five (5) plus years in Aerospace or similar industry a plus
  4. Five (5) plus years in supervisory role showing increased responsibility and managing staff of 30+ individuals
  5. Excellent interpersonal and computer skills.
  6. Five (5) plus years as a setup person on 3, 4, & 5 axis milling machines. Lathe setup a plus.
  7. Understanding of safe work practices, Process Safety Management, incident investigation techniques, and safety & environmental regulations.
  8. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with other departments
  9. Leadership skills to develop a workforce through reward and recognition, coaching, corrective action and progressive discipline
  10. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement.
